MANAGEMENT

The management of Papakowhai School has changed in 2011 following the retirement of Kevin Win, at the end of term one, after 20 years as Principal.

Principal - Mark Smith BMus Dip Tchg

I have been teaching for 17 years. My first association with Papakowhai School was in 1993 when I was a student teacher in Catherine Church’s room. It was a great school then and it still is today.

I began my teaching career in 1994 at Discovery School. I have also taught at Tawa School, worked as a researcher at NZCER and I was seconded as a Numeracy Facilitator to Victoria University in 2006. I was Deputy Principal at Papakowhai School from 2003 - May 2011.

I enjoy all aspects of teaching and learning but I am especially interested in students enjoying success in mathematics and inquiry learning.

I was educated at Tawa College and Victoria University. I live in Tawa with Lisa and my three children.

Deputy Principal - Shane Robinson BEd Dip Tchg

I have been teaching for over 12 years, primarily in Lower Hutt.  During this time I taught for extended periods at Hutt Central School and more recently at Boulcott School. During my time at Boulcott School I was a team leader who was responsible for numeracy in the school.

I really enjoy the way teaching is an ever changing job where no two days are the same.  One of my core beliefs is that learning is more effective when it is enjoyable so I work really hard to make learning fun for the students I teach.  I also have a strong passion for ICT and its uses in today's classroom.

I was educated at Parkway College and Victoria University.  I currently live in Lower Hutt with my wife Megan and son Cooper.
