Mrs Foster's class 2009
Ah hoy there me hearties!!!
Every child seems fascinated by pirates. There is a great display in Mrs Foster's space which the children have helped contribute to. This display has helped with choosing writing topics, spelling, drawing, colours, counting, and poetry.

Starting the Day

Every morning the children start the day by learning the day, date, and what the weather is like. They also discuss what the programme for the day will involve and start their various activities.

Literacy Skills for New Entrants
We use a wonderful system in the school for learning how to read and write. It is called Letterland and each letter is assigned a name associated with the sound it makes, for example Munching Mike and Annie Apple. The learning methods include learning each letter individually and each has a song and story that aids that process. Also when there are different sounds - for example "sh" - there are stories that explain how the sound is made. The children really enjoy learning this system.
Keeping Ourselves Safe
The children look at ways to keep themselves safe, fit and healthy. One of those ways is to wash hands prior to eating and after going to the toilet.

The children also looked at who there is around to help us if we need it.
