Mrs Church's class for 2009
Reading is a Life Skill
Mrs Church's class loves to read. Each week they spend time in the Library reading books and having a story read to them. They also enjoy taking books home each week and returning them for new ones the following Wednesday. Most days they have time silent reading as well as time with the teacher learning reading strategies.
Each month the class looks at a particular author and has a display of their books in the class. This is a great way of getting to know books that suit the childs age.
Statistical Analysis
You are never too young to learn statistics. Learning the correct question to ask, how people may answer and how you can display that information in an interesting format is a real skill. The children in this class are on their way to be great mathematicians!
This graph shows how many teeth each child in the class has lost. They found that the median number was 3, the mode (most common) was 0 and 2, the outlier was 4. By choosing a subject that the children can relate to makes learning so much more fun.
