At the commencement of the year the children prepared 3-D art using their initials.  The making of this art work is actually reasonably tricky but the effect is worth it.

Training to be Astronauts

Space is such a huge topic and one which is not always esy to grasp.  This year the school had day in which an educational programme on space was brought in.  It was extremely educational with many hands on activities to look at as well as listening an observing.  A few children had the opportunity to dress up as spacemen - this was fun.

The Estuary

As part of a science topic the children within the syndicate studied an estuary ecosystem.  Understanding what lives within this ecosystem and how the environment impacts upon it were part of the topic.  To assist with the learning a field trip to Pauatahanui inlet and Battle Hill was undertaken.  There was a fascination with crabs and other muddy creatures!! 

 The visit also inspired some amazing art work.
